Full Moon Cancer

It’s not about whether or not you achieve the goal, it’s about who you become in the process.
— Lexi D'Angelo

The Moon appears full when it is illuminated by the Sun’s light. This happens when the Sun and Moon are on opposite sides of the sky, meaning they are in opposite signs. For example, the Capricorn season Full Moon happens in the sign of Cancer.

The Full Moon represents the climax of the Lunar Cycle. All the energy of the New Moon has been building up to this point. It is the time we feel most alive, high energy. There is a desire to connect, to gather, and to celebrate. Mirrored in the menstrual cycle by ovulation, it also represents the sigh of relief as all that built up energy is released. It is a time to let go, be free, and embrace the wild feminine.

In order to get clear on what you really want you must ask yourself why you want it. Do you know what purpose these big goals are for? It can be easy to want what everyone else is having when it looks like they are doing so well, but if it isn’t truly aligned with your desires, you might find yourself struggling through self-sabotage and giving up two weeks in.

Capricorn brings out our practical, career driven self, while Cancer brings out the nurturer and maternal side in all of us. At the Cancer New Moon, we focused on self-care and how you can nurture yourself. Now we are applying that same principal to your career and long-term goals. Both signs are cardinal which is great energy for taking initiative. As you go after your ambitious goals, ask yourself how you can prioritize taking care of yourself and find balance between doing and receiving.

This water sign is ruled by the Moon and highly concerned with emotions. Danielle LaPorte discusses in her book what she calls “Core Desired Feelings”, or how you want to feel on a soul level. Most of the decisions you make are an attempt to bring you closer to these feelings. However, if you aren’t aware of what those feelings are you might be going about it in all the wrong ways. Tonight’s meditation is adapted from Danielle LaPorte’s Heart Centering Practice, and will help reveal what your deepest desires truly are.

On The Full Moon

The Full Moon ritual is similar to that of the New Moon. However, instead of setting intentions we focus our energy on the release. It is a perfect time to celebrate what we have achieved and let go of what has kept us stuck. I also suggest burning your lists in a fire safe manner. Fire helps transmute any negative energies and bring them back to neutral. It is especially powerful for letting go.

  • Set the space for inner work.

Suggested crystals: Lapis Lazuli and Citrine. Suggested oils: Geranium and Ylang-ylang

  • Full Moon Meditation

  • Journal Questions

  • Releasing List

  • Gratitude List

  • Closing Ritual:

Closing phrase: “Under the light of the Full Moon, I am cleansed. I know that I am blessed, and I live my life within that knowing.”

Burn your lists in a fire safe way.
