Full Moon Taurus

Shame is the intensely painful feeling or experience of believing that we are flawed and therefore unworthy of love and belonging.
— Brene Brown

The Moon appears full when it is illuminated by the Sun’s light. This happens when the Sun and Moon are on opposite sides of the sky, meaning they are in opposite signs. For example, the Scorpio season Full Moon happens in the sign of Taurus.

The Full Moon represents the climax of the Lunar Cycle. All the energy of the New Moon has been building up to this point. It is the time we feel most alive, high energy. There is a desire to connect, to gather, and to celebrate. Mirrored in the menstrual cycle by ovulation, it also represents the sigh of relief as all that built up energy is released. It is a time to let go, be free, and embrace the wild feminine.

The return of Taurus brings us back to the sign of indulgence. This month we’ve been using shadow work to embrace our deepest desires. However, this isn’t an excuse to cultivate habits you know aren’t serving you. The challenge is to find balance between owning your darkness and indulging in your vices. Taking time for yourself to do things that bring you joy is important to leading a happy, fulfilled life. However, when those things start to have negative effects on the rest of your life, that’s when there is usually something there you aren’t dealing with.

It’s important to acknowledge and accept the things you don’t like about yourself without taking them on as part of your identity. Just because you can’t seem to stop eating food you know is bad for you, doesn’t mean you are less worthy of a person. Most of us associate with the negative results we see in our lives and disassociate with the positive ones. But the most successful, healthy, vibrant people do the opposite! When you make a mistake or things don’t go as planned, rather than making it mean something about you, try to see it as feedback for next time. There is no shame in failure, it’s only when we make ourselves wrong that we get stuck in the spiral of self-loathing.

Both Scorpio and Taurus are fixed signs which are determined and great with follow through. While that’s great for pushing through the challenges of shadow work, it’s also a great time to release control. We’ve been cultivating sacred sensuality this month, which is another area that triggers feelings of shame. We hold the energy of our past lovers in our sacral chakra. Scorpio is unashamed, and Taurus loves pleasure. Use the combined energy to fully let go and release whatever’s stuck.

On The Full Moon

The Full Moon ritual is similar to that of the New Moon. However, instead of setting intentions we focus our energy on the release. It is a perfect time to celebrate what we have achieved and let go of what has kept us stuck. I also suggest burning your lists in a fire safe manner. Fire helps transmute any negative energies and bring them back to neutral. It is especially powerful for letting go.

  • Set the space for inner work.

Suggested crystals: Citrine and Smoky Quartz. Suggested oils: Orange and Clove

  • Full Moon meditation

  • Journal Questions

  • Releasing List

  • Gratitude list

  • Closing ritual:

Closing phrase: “Under the light of the Full Moon, I am cleansed. I know that I am blessed, and I live my life within that knowing.”

Burn your lists in a fire safe way.
