Full Moon in Virgo

I just want to reach this state of action in my body and tranquility in my mind.
— Nina, Reel Rock 14

The Moon appears full when it is illuminated by the Sun’s light. This happens when the Sun and Moon are on opposite sides of the sky, meaning they are in opposite signs. For example, the Pisces season Full Moon happens in the sign of Virgo.

The Full Moon represents the climax of the Lunar Cycle. All the energy of the New Moon has been building up to this point. It is the time we feel most alive, high energy. There is a desire to connect, to gather, and to celebrate. Mirrored in the menstrual cycle by ovulation, it also represents the sigh of relief as all that built up energy is released. It is a time to let go, be free, and embrace the wild feminine.

Pisces Season is dreamy and mystical, while Virgo brings us back to the practical. The Full Moon asks us to find a balance between dreaming or praying and taking physical action. This month we’ve been cultivating a spiritual practice. However, you won’t win tickets on the radio just sitting on your couch dreaming about it. You actually have to enter the contest! Now that you’ve made the space to dream, it’s time to make a practical plan for making those dreams come true.

We’ve come to the end of the Astrological calendar, and the end of Winter. On the horizon is Spring returning. New life, new beginnings, and renewed energy. The cycle continues and we prepare to do it all again with a new layer of depth and understanding. As we move from the dark seasons back into the light, the New and Full Moons switch back to work with the signs in the opposite way.

Both Virgo and Pisces are mutable signs which means they are great for making change. It’s a great time to release anything keeping you from embracing the desires of your soul. Use tonight’s meditation to clear your energy field of anything heavy and stuck, and allow for guidance to flow easily to you.

On The Full Moon

The Full Moon ritual is similar to that of the New Moon. However, instead of setting intentions we focus our energy on the release. It is a perfect time to celebrate what we have achieved and let go of what has kept us stuck. I also suggest burning your lists in a fire safe manner. Fire helps transmute any negative energies and bring them back to neutral. It is especially powerful for letting go.

  • Set the space for inner work.

Suggested crystals: Bloodstone and Amethyst. Suggested oils: Clove and Rose Absolute

  • Full Moon meditation

  • Journal Questions

  • Releasing List

  • Gratitude list

  • Closing ritual:

Closing phrase: “Under the light of the Full Moon, I am cleansed. I know that I am blessed, and I live my life within that knowing.”

Burn your lists in a fire safe way.
