Money Mindset and Self Worth
Its Taurus season, have you been feeling the treat yo’ self vibes??? Taurus is all about experiencing life through the five senses. It is the energy of comforts. It is about sitting at home eating your favorite foods, in your favorite spot, watching your favorite guilty pleasure, or reading your favorite book. It is the sign of guilt free indulgence and we all have Taurus somewhere in our charts.
Taurus is the first earth sign and represents how we ground ourselves. It is also associated with our material needs of the physical world, i.e. MONEY. Earth signs are all about the abundance of nature, which doesn’t always mean money, but with Taurus it is.
The lesson Taurus wants you to learn is that you are worth it! You deserve to have the things you desire, you deserve to be happy, you deserve to enjoy your work, home, car and how you spend your free time. It is not bad to have the things that you desire. Indulgence is not bad. However, if you move out of the space of abundance, sparking joy, and knowing your worth; then you may find yourself in overindulgence. This comes from a lack mindset. It comes from the fear of not enough. Both not having enough, and not being enough.
We overindulge in pleasures to the point that they become harmful because we are afraid the pleasurable feeling will end. We are still seeking pleasure through stimuli rather than finding joy inside ourselves. There are two problems with this.
One, it assumes that the pleasure and joy is finite and will run out eventually so we must stock pile and soak up as much as we can right now! When I say it like that it is easy to see the lie, yet in the moment our emotional self does not listen to the reasoning mind and the fear takes over. By cultivating an abundance mindset, we shift out of the fear and into the belief that there is always more where that came from. We often feel undeserving of what we have and give into the fear that it will all go away soon. We combat this fear by cultivating a sense of self-worth and expressing gratitude for all we have.
The second issue is the fear that when the physical stimuli is removed, we will be left alone with ourselves. This problem is much deeper and requires a bit more inner work. This is about cultivating a loving relationship with yourself. All the work we do in this program is to build a sense of self-love. If you can simply begin to treat yourself like you would your best friend or anyone in your life you care deeply about, then you’ll start to feel self-compassion. If you can stop judging yourself so harshly and instead focus on the amazing qualities you have, you’ll build on that and feel your own sense of worth. You’ll start to love spending time alone with your thoughts because your thoughts will be there to build you up. This is, of course, a practice. But speaking from experience, it is transformative in how you experience your life.
There is so much out there about money mindset, whole courses and books just focused on this topic. I highly suggest you read this month’s book You Are a Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero as a jumping off point to creating an abundance mindset. One of the first steps is recognizing that money itself is neither good nor bad. Having money does not make you a bad person. It is a tool that amplifies whatever qualities you already have. Money is actually symbolic and all of its worth is something we attribute to it.
One of the most powerful states for manifesting literally anything is GRATITUDE. It takes us out of worry or fear, and brings us back to a place of joy. It involves trusting that there is more good to come your way, and feeling worthy of what already have. However, it can take time to make the shift depending on your personal experiences. That is why implementing a gratitude practice is one of the first steps in creating the life of your dreams, and also why we practice it in every ritual. The more time you spend in a state of gratitude, the more you raise your vibration and become an energetic match for the things you desire. The more grateful you are for what you have, the faster you manifest more to be grateful for. The path to an abundant life is by first recognizing how abundant you already are.
Your challenge for Taurus season is to develop your own gratitude practice. Each day, for at least the next few weeks, express gratitude for 3 things. You can write them in your journal or share them with a loved one. It only takes a moment and is a wonderful way to end the day. I even brought my partner in on this practice and had each of us share one thing we were grateful for before bed. Then we curled up in our cozy gratitude feelings and drifted off to sleep.
